Sandsationally Nativity in Jesolo, Christmas ’09

Coming to Venice this Christmas? If you have some spare time make sure you drop by the 8th edition of Sand Nativity in nearby Jesolo, an interesting artistic representation of the nativity scenes and religious characters made entirely by sand, which I am certain will keep both children and adults entertain.

Giorgione’s rare masterpieces showcasing in Castelfranco Veneto

From next Saturday the 12th of December, the town of Castelfranco Veneto, will open the door to the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Giorgione (Zorzi da Castelfranco 1477/78 – Venice 1510) with a unique exhibition showcasing rare masterworks of one of the greatest High Renaissance painter.

The celebrated Altarpiece, Pala di Castelfranco, completed for his hometown’ church, The Tempest, the coloured Madonna and Child along with other enigmatic masterpieces and earlier works assigned to Giorgione will be dispalied for the first time ever under the same roof.

Let’s spritz!

What best than celebrate the start of our new virtual adventure than with a toast with a favorite, if not the one, aperitif in Veneto: the Spritz.

A late afternoon aperitivo, simple but stylish, slightly bitter but refreshing. There are several ways to make the spritz but basically is a mix of Prosecco (a typical bubbly white wine), with a touch of sparkling water, topped with Campari, Select or Aperol, some cubes of ice, a slice of lemon or orange and, for a flashier touch, a green olive.
