Montagnana foodies’ fest – Festa del Prosciutto Veneto DOP
Montagnana might be one of the Veneto’s cities off the beaten path but to us Montagnana is no secret especially for Venetian food lovers. This small medieval town, in the province of Padua, lies among the plain between the Berican and Euganeau hills making it the perfect environment, alongside other nearby towns, to produce the Prosciutto Veneto Berico-Euganeo DOP, a delicious dry-cured, seasoned raw ham.
Every year on May the whole town centre of Montagnana turns into a tasting hall to celebrate the pride of the Prosciutto Crudo Veneto DOP, designation of its origin, uniqueness and quality of the product.
Throughout this culinary event, there would be plenty of opportunity to taste this great, sweet and rich in flavor, local speciality in the piazza’s gastronomic stand and food stalls accompanied by a glass or two of selected local wines and along with other regional products such as cheeses and cakes.
To lead visitors and locals into a truly Montagnana’s experience there would be also free cultural tours, street entertainments and local artisans stalls.
The Festa del Prosciutto will run for two weekends this 14-15-16 and 22-23 of May.
